Savagnin Blanc – Traminer (Païen or Heida)

The fruity grape variety with aromas of citrus fruit.

A grape variety with multiple appellations, Savagnin Blanc (known as Païen or Heida in Valais) is very popular nowadays.

With citrus notes very much to the fore on the nose, Savagnin Blanc has a lively attack and a great length in the mouth.

A little secret about Savagnin Blanc: the name Païen is said to mean that this wine was grown in Valais prior to the canton’s evangelization, while the name Heida is said to come from the Upper Valais dialect word ‘Heiden’, which means old.
