Cave la Fournaise - Veyras

Located in the village of Veyras, Cave la Fournaise (which means ‘furnace’) is aptly named because a carving of an actual devil guards the entrance to the barrel cellar installed in one of the winery’s old concrete vats.

Founded in 1993 by Joëlle and Philippe Epiney, Cave la Fournaise is the product of the latter’s earlier experience, as Philippe has been practicing his craft since 1970. Today Joëlle and Philippe vinify 23 wines, each of which carries a name that has been carefully selected to highlight its typicity, which the owners are keen to explain.

They are members of the Veyras winemakers’ association and participate in the vinification of the “Puissance 5” assemblage – a wine that is worth exploring in a tasting
