The winery was founded in 1979 by René Güntert, who has been joined by his son Marc both in the vineyards and in the vinification centre.
René was keen to respect the environment from the start, and he has always made his wines and grown his vines without the use of chemical products. Then, in 2004, he discovered quite by chance that his methods corresponded to the specifications of Bio Suisse, Switzerland’s main organic agriculture organisation. So he decided to apply for the label, obtained it ... and renamed his winery “Biocave”.
