Cave du Chevalier Bayard - Varen

In the heart of the village of Varen, the special strength of Cave du Chevalier Bayard is that they work in harmony with nature and with full respect for the environment. In fact, some of their wines carry the label of Valais’ regional nature park Pfyn-Finges, under the Produit des Parcs Suisses (product of Swiss natural parks) scheme.

Founded in 1975 by Yeremias and Oktavia Bayard, since 2012 the winery has been run by their sons, Yvan and Philippe Bayard.

The legend of the heroic Chevalier Bayard permeates the whole winery. The dry-stone carnotzet (traditional wine bar) with its mediaeval decorations is the most obvious example of this. The exhibitions that take place here over the months simply add to the atmosphere of a mediaeval tavern.
